Once we followed the star-ways, we children of light,
The High Ones, yes, they knew the reason.
Now we run on the ground and we hunt in the night,
Uncaring we follow the seasons.

CHORUS: And we how at the moons and we run to the kill,
With companions of fur and of cunning.
We survive in the ruin, and take pride in our skill,
And find freedom and joy in the running.

Deep in our blood runs the dream of our race;
Memories rise up unbidden.
The question is, “Why did we come to this place?”
